Oftentimes the best DIYs are the ones you can make with just a quick trip to your cabinet. Here are some uses for household items that you already have.

Coconut Oil Uses

Dry End Treatment: Rub a small amount coconut oil at the ends of your hair for extra moisture.

Scrub/Exfoliant: Mix oil with granulated sugar for a quick scrub and smooth skin.

Wrinkle Prevention: Apply a small amount of coconut oil underneath the eyes to prevent wrinkles and puffy eyes.

Sunburn Relief: Apply oil directly to sunburn to soothe skin.

Makeup Remover: Oil will dissolve makeup quickly and effectively. Use with a cotton pad and let it sit on the skin or apply directly onto face then wipe away.

Shaving Cream: Use as you would typical shaving cream.

Beauty Uses for Baking Soda

Brush Cleanser: Dip dirty makeup brushes in warm water and a couple teaspoons of baking soda

Nail Whitener: Mix baking soda with hydrogen peroxide and apply to nails with a toothbrush. Let sit three to five minutes before rinsing off.

Face Scrub: Add a small amount of baking soda to a gentle face wash for a natural exfoliant.

Teeth Whitener: Mix baking soda and water to make a paste and brush your teeth. Don’t worry, baking soda does not permanently bleach teeth. For extra efficiency, mix paste with hydrogen peroxide.

Dry Shampoo: Sprinkle baking soda close to your roots in order to soak up excess oil. To avoid a white cast with dark hair, add teaspoon cocoa powder.

Vaseline Uses

Makeup Stain Remover: Using Vaseline with a damp washcloth can pull out makeup stains from clothing, sheets, pillows, etc.

Fragrance Preparation: Moisturized skin holds fragrance for a longer period of time, so apply Vaseline to desired areas.
