Jared Williams, School Security Officer, graduated from Douglas Anderson as a vocal major.
The Artisan: What was your experience like as a student at DA? Do you think DA has changed since then?
Williams: It seemed more magical back then. There were student performances all the time. You could walk around and a vocal kid would be singing, or the creative writers would do their thing. It was a smaller school when I went there, and it was like the students were more connected. I’d like to see that come back.
The Artisan: If we were to ask your 12-year-old self what you wanted to be when you grew up, what would you say?
Williams: I’d say a singer. Also, an entrepreneur. I didn’t want to work for anyone but myself. As a singer, I’d probably make Christian songs.
The Artisan: What is your real-life superpower?
Williams: I’d say being a creative leader. Also, being able to read people and situations really well. It’s helped me in my career. Being a security officer isn’t actually my career. I’m a pastor, chaplain, itinerate speaker, and author of five books. I’ve also done some work in film.
